The Alchemy of Natural Pigments

For centuries, indigenous communities have painted their stories using nothing but the canvas of nature itself. In this post, we explore the chemistry and spirit of harvesting pigments without damaging the ecosystem. Harvesting red clay, soot from forest wood, and extracts from local seeds yields a palette that is alive, changing color slightly as it ages and reacts with the air.

Through my community workshops, we bring this tactile alchemy to modern canvases, connecting ancient chemical wisdom with contemporary visual language.
